Fateh Prakash Palace Udaipur - Udaipur

Location: Udaipur Hotel Rating: 5 Star

A sunbathed vision on the eastern banks of Lake Pichola, Taj Fateh Prakash is part of the iconic City Palace complex. It was built in the 20th century by Maharana Fateh Singh as a venue for royal events. Like princely dignitaries from another era, present-day guests arrive to be mesmerized by exquisite vistas of the lake and the mighty Aravalli mountain range.  The original palace décor has been meticulously maintained. From miniature paintings and armoury to royal heirlooms and furniture straight off toshakhanas (royal storerooms), the palace is alive with stories of Rajput valour and adventure. Gastronomy is an all-sensory experience with Indian and world cuisines on offer. Sunset Terrace – consistently rated as one of India’s most scenic restaurants - is the perfect venue for a royal Mewari meal with sweeping views of Pichola, Jagmandir Island, Lake Palace and Sajjangarh Palace. Surya Darshan Bar offers a ceremonial English Afternoon Tea to savour with family and friends, later converting to a romantic sunset spot for champagne and hors d’oeuvres.

The palace’s public chambers are show stopping works of history and art. At 5177 square feet, Durbar Hall Sabhagaar is one of the most majestic heritage banquet halls in India, a blend of plush Mewari and Victorian design sensibilities. It was earlier named after Lord Minto, the Viceroy of India who laid its foundation stone in 1909. It is fringed on the upper level by the Crystal Gallery – the world’s largest privately owned collection of crystal objets d’art - including the only crystal bed in the world and a jewel-encrusted carpet. Commissioned by Maharana Sajjan Singh, this eclectic treasure was crafted by F & C Osler Company in England. Along with the contemporary Darbar Hall Satkaar and five other smaller meeting venues, the palace offers guests a rare opportunity to celebrate events ranging from destination weddings and conferences to corporate meetings in regal splendour.

Live the contemporary royal life at our Palace Rooms which present stunning views of Lake Pichola, Lake Palace and Jagmandir Island through classic jharokha (arched window) ledges with comfortable cushions. The soothing pastel colour palette, marble in-lay flooring, miniature paintings on the walls and a plush three-fixture marble bathroom bring the elegance of Mewar into your living space. A king-sized/twin bed, flat screen HD TV, mini bar, tea-coffee maker and complimentary WiFi round off our bouquet of modern amenities for a stress-free, pleasant stay.
